  1. National Statistics Day is commemorated annually across India on 29 June to honor the significant contributions made by Professor Prasanta Chandra Mahalanobis in the fields of statistics and economic planning and to raise public awareness about the role and importance of statistics in Socio-economic planning, policy formulation and development processes in everyday life. The theme of National Statistics Day 2023 is “Alignment of State Indicator Framework with National Indicator Framework for Monitoring Sustainable Development Goals”.
  2. United Nations’ International Day of the Tropics is observed annually across the world on 29 June to raise awareness about various challenges that tropical nations face and to celebrate the extraordinary variety of the tropics.
